The Force
The use of Typography & pop iconography, particularly from the Star Wars ethos, is employed in this exhibit to make the concept more universal and to open a dialogue about state-sanctioned violence. It aims to engage a potentially desensitized audience in a way that breathes new life into the narrative. The exhibit poses the question: Are we living in a peace-loving democracy?
I chose to curate this visual narrative in the art space using the guerrilla art form of street art applied directly to the walls, in order to engage viewers in a provocative and relevant way. The restriction of color is also used to reflect the polarized views surrounding this issue, particularly in the public dialogue prevalent on social media.
