Rocko Rocket is a company with the vision of becoming the definitive source for children on the subject of the solar system and space. They invite children to explore the universe alongside  their adorable but relentless character of the same name.

ROCKO'S BIG LAUNCH

My branding journey with them started at the beginning with book 1. At the heart of their brand is the commitment to literacy and they see printed books as their core product. Their first, Rocko’s Big Launch is an award-winning book featuring Rocko Rocket, a boy who has a passion for rockets and outer space and dreams of becoming a rocket scientist. I decided that “love” was at the center of their brand’s core message, and actively translated it into every decision. I think this what draws people to the brand.

After developing and witnessing the success of the visual impact of the book. It became essential to ensure continuity across the entire catalog of content and products.

COLORING BOOKS

 

The company develops products and content in seven key areas that bring attention to one another. I created icons for each key area which places  the viewer in a specific domain enhancing the user experience. The kids can now easily match a coloring book with its corresponding THINKSPACE KIDS episode in the solar system docu-series.

With the power of branding a kid can stumble across a DIY project on YouTube and realize that is relates to a planet which relates to a THINKSPACE KIDS episode which relates to a coloring book which relates to Rocko’s Big Launch, and be completely immeresed in Rocko Rocket.

If Rocko Rocket book 1 is the backbone of the brand, then Rocko Rocket YouTube is cereberal cortex. It alows the the audience to see the breath of the world at glance and direct them to another area of interest within the ecosystem. The design intension is to mark the THINKSPACE KIDS brand as the perfect place where fact meets fiction and the kids can’t tell the difference between having fun and learning.
